Afterarecentshootingkilleda17-year-oldstudent,Seattle’sGarfieldHighSchoolmaybeginrethinkingitsdecisiontoremovepoliceofficersbackin2020.
OnJune6,a17-year-oldstudentwasshotandkilledintheschoolparkinglotaftertryingtobreakupafightbetweentwoboys.Policereportedthatthesuspectfledonfootandstillremainsontherun.
Meanwhile,formerGarfieldpoliceofficerBennieRadford,whonowlivesinFlorida,can’thelpbutwonderifhewouldhavemadeadifference.
“Mystomachiswrenchingrightnow,”RadfordtoldTheSeattleTimes.“Inevershouldhaveleft.Thosearemykids—thatwasmyschool.”
